PRICING NOTICE: Proposal to amend frequency of two titanium dioxide price assessments

By William Clarke
Published: Tuesday, 09 February 2021

Fastmarkets proposes to reduce the frequency of two of its titanium dioxide price assessments to monthly from weekly.

Initial market feedback suggests that liquidity in the titanium dioxide market in Europe and the United States is mostly based on quarterly price adjustments by producers. Therefore, a longer data collection period will enable Fastmarkets to capture additional liquidity and the assessment will be better aligned with the timings of the market.

The specifications for the titanium dioxide assessments are as follows, with proposed amendments in italics:

MB-TI-0011 - Titanium dioxide pigment, chloride grade, DDP North America, $ per tonne

Quality: Chloride grade

Quantity: 20 tonnes minimum

Location: DDP North America

Timing: Spot

Unit: $ per tonne

Payment terms: within 1 month

Publication: Monthly, Thursday, 4pm London Time

MB-TI-0010 - Titanium dioxide pigment, chloride grade, DDP Europe, € per tonne

Quality: Chloride grade

Quantity: 20 tonnes minimum

Location: DDP Europe

Timing: Spot

Unit: € per tonne

Payment terms: within 1 month

Publication: Monthly, Thursday, 4pm London Time

No other changes are proposed to be made to the specifications of the two price assessment or to Fastmarkets’ other titanium dioxide price assessments.

The price assessment for MB-TI-0009 - Titanium dioxide pigment, sulfite grade, fob China, $ per tonne, will remain on a weekly schedule.

The consultation for this proposed amendment will end one month from the publication of this pricing notice, on Tuesday March 9, while the amendment will be made, subject to market feedback, on Thursday March 11.
