BFA stable on uncertain outlook; bauxite firm on high demand

Prices of brown fused alumina (BFA) were firm during the two weeks to Thursday March 4, with market participants' views differing on the market's performance. White fused alumina (WFA), meanwhile, slipped and bauxite was stable.

Fastmarkets’ latest fortnightly assessment for alumina, fused brown, min 95% Al2O3, refractory sized (0-6mm), fob China was at $680-700 per tonne on March 4, unchanged since January 21.

On the same day, the price for alumina, fused brown, min 95% Al2O3, FEPA F8-220 grit, fob China was assessed at $750-800...
