WFA range widens downward on freight differentials; bauxite, BFA prices firm

Higher availability in Europe of white fused alumina (WFA) shipped in break bulk vessels put pressure on some cif Europe port prices in the past fortnight, while bauxite and brown fused alumina (BFA) prices were steady.

Fastmarkets’ fortnightly assessment for alumina, fused white, 25kg bags, cif Europe widened downward by €20 to €655-730 ($780-870) per tonne on Thursday March 18 from €675-730 per tonne on February 18, falling for a second consecutive assessment period since the start of the year.
