Foundry chromite market retreats after short-lived price rise

Foundry grade chromite prices fell in the week to Tuesday April 6 after a slump in demand from main consuming markets dented producers’ ability to hold previous quotes.

Fastmarkets assessed both wet bulk and dried and bagged foundry chromite prices down from previous levels after several weeks of broad market firmness.

The price assessment for chromite, foundry, 46% Cr2O3 min, wet bulk, fob South Africa fell to $205-225 per tonne on April 6, against $215-235 per tonne previously....
