China’s flake graphite prices drop on supply increase, demand shift

Prices for flake graphite from China have been falling over the past couple of weeks on improved availability and a demand shift caused by factors including alternate sources outside China, “fake flake” and high freight costs, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets assessed the price for graphite flake 94% C,-100 mesh (-194), fob China at $520 per tonne on Thursday April 9, down from $545 per tonne a week ago. The price has fallen by 7.69% from $560 per tonne where it had held steady from the end of January to mid-March....
