CHINA AUTO: Slight gain in April vehicle output, sales supports raw materials prices

Chinese automotive production and sales’ figures both increased year on year, which provided support for most upstream battery raw materials prices, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said on Thursday May 12.

Carmakers in the country produced 2.23 million units in April, up by 6.3% year on year while sales came to 2.25 million units, up by 8.6% from April 2020, CAAM said.

Over January to April 2021, Chinese automotive output totaled 8.59 million units, up by 53.4% from the year before,...
