China’s bauxite exports down 22% in May; WFA, BFA shipments drop 14-17%

China’s export shipments of refractory-grade bauxite dropped in May by 21.84%, compared with a month earlier. And shipments of white and brown fused alumina (WFA and BFA) over the same period went down by 16.54% and 14.59% respectively, according to Chinese customs data.

The declining flows of bauxite and fused alumina from China over the month could be attributed to the continuing global logistics chaos , but market sources suggested that the recent rises in the numbers of Covid-19 cases in India, a major importer, could also be to blame.
