Tight supply, strong demand cause Asian soda ash prices to jump

Asian soda ash prices rose in Fastmarkets’ monthly price assessment due to strong demand in China and Southeast Asia.

Export prices from China touched $300 per tonne, the highest since July 2018. The increase was caused by Chinese soda ash factory closures and the strength of the country's domestic demand and prices.

Sellers are getting better prices domestically, leaving little material available for export.
