WFA prices rise on high freight costs; BFA and bauxite edge up amid supply issues

Prices for white fused alumina (WFA) rose further on Thursday July 8 on soaring shipment rates and supply issues, while brown fused alumina (BFA) and bauxite increased amid tightening raw material availability and high operation costs.

Fastmarkets assessed alumina, fused white, 25kg bags, cif Europe at €715-800 ($845-946) per tonne on Thursday, narrowing upward by €15 from €700-800 per tonne two weeks ago.
