Rio Tinto discards titanium slag production forecast after a South African force majeure

Rio Tinto reports rapid titanium slag recovery in the second quarter, but halts their yearly production forecast following violent outbreaks in South Africa. Rio Tinto plans to complete studies on the Serbian lithium project by end of 2021, the company said.

Rio Tinto, a global metal and mineral producer, released production results for the second quarter of 2021 on Friday July 16. 

Titanium dioxide slag production reached 298,000 tonnes in the second quarter of 2021, the report said.
