IODINE MONTHLY UPDATE: ‘Hand-to-mouth’ sourcing for customers amid logistics problems

Iodine spot prices continued to rise in August 2021, with tightness increasing because of the continuing global logistics difficulties. Customers were being forced to wait and could build up their inventories to mitigate future risks.

The spot price for iodine 99.5% min, spot, delivered US/Europe, cif Asia, showed an uptick to $36.00-39.00 per kg in Fastmarkets’ weekly assessment on August 19, where the price has remained since. It was previously $35.00-38.50 per kg.
