Fused alumina prices continue to soar amid power shortages; bauxite firm

Market prices in China for brown fused alumina (BFA) and white fused alumina (WFA) continued to surge over the past fortnight on escalating power shortage-related operations closures in production hubs, while bauxite prices remained stable despite supply risks.

Fastmarkets assessed the price of alumina, fused white, 25kg bags, cif Europe, at €920-990 ($1,067-1,148) per tonne on Thursday October 14, up from €875-950 per tonne in the previous assessment. This was up by 54.53% at the mid-point from a year earlier.
