Supply woes push fob China spherical, flake fines graphite prices higher

Prices for flake fines and spherical graphite in China continued to rise in the week to Thursday November 4, boosted by supply concerns amid power rationing, anti-pollution controls and traditional winter halts in the major production regions of Shandong and Heilongjiang.

Fastmarkets assessed the price for graphite spherical 99.95% C, 15 microns, fob China at $2,800-3,000 per tonne on Thursday, narrowing upward by $50 per tonne from $2,750-3,000 per tonne a week earlier. The latest midpoint, of $2,900 per tonne, is the highest since August 2014.
