Fastmarkets is proposing to amend the frequency of these price assessments from weekly to fortnightly in response to market feedback, and after observing a progressive slowdown in liquidity and trading activity across the main chromite prices over the past year, following the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The initial lockdowns and subsequent effects on economic activity across major consuming markets, as well as other market-related dynamics in metallurgical chrome, have affected trading patterns and the frequency of purchasing for both chemical and foundry grades of chromite. The amended frequency of the price assessments is intended to ensure that pricing is aligned to this evolution in trading activity.

The consultation period for the proposed amendments starts from November 30, 2021, and will end on December 31, 2021.

The amendment will then take place, subject to market feedback, on January 4, 2022.
