Zhengzhou issues Code Orange air-quality warning, alumina production halted

Local authorities in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou issued a Code Orange response protocol (level two) on Wednesday December 22 because of an expected deterioraton in air quality in the week to December 25.

This was the second Code Orange alert since the end of November, according to sources.

Fused alumina production in the region was said to be have been halted on Tuesday December 21, according to four local producers.

Market participants do not expect the Code Orange to last long...
