The US magnesia producer has reported its first quarter profit for the first time since 2008, helped by record sales and “significant contributions” from its magnesia specialities business.

Talks to resolve a conflict between workers at an Ohio refractory plant and the plant's managers have collapsed, resulting in the shut down of the plant by its management. The facility produces clay refractory linings and the company is focusing on resolving the issue to prevent any prolonged disruption to production.
