Aluminum Commodity Specialist

E. Lee Bray: Lee joined the National Minerals Information Center, U. S. Geological Survey in 2007 as the Mineral Commodity Specialist for aluminum, alumina, and bauxite. Since 2013 he has also been the Mineral Commodity Specialist for magnesium metal and magnesium compounds. In this position he is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical information on the commodities covered, as well as understanding the details of the industries that produce and consume these commodities. Prior to this positon, he spent 7 years as an environmental geologist for the Illinois State Geological Survey, responsible for environmental screening of land adjacent to proposed transportation construction projects. He also worked as a mine geologist for BHP Copper in Ely, NV, and Barrick Gold Corp. at Mercur, UT. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT; a Master of Science Degree in Geology from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT; and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago in Chicago, IL.
