Anglo-Australian mining giant BHP Billiton Plc could exit its potash project in the Danakil Depression of Ethiopia, in the next few months as the exploration programme has been unsuccessful so far, IM has learned.
BHP is said to have released an internal note on 13 June saying that the company would exit its in Dallol based potash project in September this year in order to focus on other developments projects, including a coal project in Australia, according to sources.
A local source revealed to IM that the Ethiopian potash project, which is still at a very early exploration stage, has been suspended since the internal announcement. They are closing down...
