Protests stall Rio Tinto's RBM mineral sand business again

Protests and the death of a security guard have halted operations at the Richard's Bay Minerals site in South Africa; the NUM has called for urgent government intervention.

Rio Tinto has suspended operations at its Richard’s Bay Minerals (RBM) mineral sand site in South Africa since Friday July 6 after protests by contractors flared up again. The violence led to the death of a security guard earlier today.
